Lead System Administrator

Areas of Responsibility:

Multi-Billion Dollar Distribution Company has a current need for an experienced System Administrator to take leadership of their compute platforms.  This is a highly visible position with the opportunity to contribute architectural design and move into a managerial role for company’s entire compute platforms.

This position can be located in California (East Bay Area or Folsom) or in Dallas, Texas.

Job Summary:  

  • System Availability/Service Levels – maintain IBM iSeries Compute Platforms with multiple partitions on high system availability and service levels as defined by unique application requirements.
  • Experience with configuration and use of IBM Backup and Recovery Media Services (BRMS)
  • Maintenance – work with IT Managers to ensure proper maintenance of operating system software and assorted system products and assist with PTF system setups. 
  • LPAR experience using HMC
  • Hardware/OS Planning, Security Planning, Performance Tuning and Analysis
  • Work with hardware and software vendors to ensure availability, reliability, and integrity of system components. 
  • Evaluate and recommend systems software to support business needs.

  • Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Five years experience System Administrator experience in an IBM iSeries environment. 
  • LPAR/HMC/multiple machines experience required
  • IBM iSeries operating system expertise
  • Experience supporting applications running on IBM iSeries
  • Ability to document, communicate, and adhere to policies and standards for systems as required

Manager, Information Security Compliance

Areas of Responsibility:

Healthcare – Lead our team in governance, security monitoring, risk management, forensics, and incident response.  The position develops and performs information technology risk and security assessments to ensure the protection of hospital’s technology assets and compliance with applicable laws and industry regulations. 

Job Summary:

  • Manages and coordinates response teams during security incidents (phishing, DDOS, malware, etc.) through resolution and lessons learned stage. 
  • Develops tactical response procedures for security incidents.  
  • Reviews alerts and data from systems and responds accordingly, including documentation and escalation. 
  • Recommends and implements mitigating actions to contain incident related activity. 
  • Mentors junior staff to advance their skills and knowledge to promote professional growth. 
  • Participates in product selection, vendor evaluations, and implementation of security technologies. 
  • Recommends security enhancements to management. 
  • Assists in the design, implementation, and maintenance of security plan, policies, procedures, and standards. 
  • Perform controls testing, document results, and provide detailed updates to leadership. 
  • Design and develop information security training with HR to be utilized for onboarding and annual training. 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, IT Security or related field.  
  • Five years experience managing and/or directing an IT security operations area and/or security monitoring or auditing and compliance experience. 
  • At least five years of experience in healthcare industry or healthcare setting. 
  • Prefer one or more of the following: 
  •  CISSP, CISM, ACDA, HCISPP. 

Application Integration Developer

An exciting position based at the corporate office of a private company headquartered in the southern wine country area.  The company has several enterprise applications that are primarily based on SQL Server and require a next generation approach to the integration of the data sources to create a capability to extract business value from the various data sources.


GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Design, develop, analyze, code, configure, test, debug, maintain and refine business applications to fit customer requirements for moderately complex projects.
  • Plan all phases of assigned projects with limited supervision or support one or more components of moderately complex projects with direction from more experienced analysts.
  • Integrate software components and 3rd party programs.
  • Solid understanding of relational databases.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of integration specifications and standards.
  • Advise internal customers on project timelines for all phases of technical design projects. Function as technical resource on appropriate projects throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Recommend improvements to business processes as supported by application systems.
  • Collect information to analyze and evaluate existing or proposed application designs.
  • Prepare technical specifications from which solutions will be developed, configured or integrated with assistance from more experienced analysts.
  • Convert technical specifications into code using proprietary and non-proprietary tools.
  • Write high quality source code utilizing structured programming techniques to support application components and the development of applications.
  • Write custom reports as needed
  • Support the transfer of software from test environment to production environment.
  • Provide system administration support and day-to-day troubleshooting for custom application systems.
  • Provide support for application systems and business processes.
  • Support the development of end-user training materials.
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the IT Director

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. In lieu of a degree, six (6) years’ directly related experience will be considered.
  • Two (2) years’ related experience.
  • Relevant developer certification(s) preferred.
  • Knowledge of SOA, C#, TSQL and scripting languages
  • Knowledge of HTTP, HTTPS, SOAP, REST, XML and JSON.
  • Knowledge of synchronous, asynchronous messaging patterns.
  • Skills in technical and configuration problem solving.
  • Knowledge of development tools.
  • Knowledge of software design and programming principles.
  • Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycles.
  • Knowledge of development practices – tools, common components and program documentation.
  • Ability to identify potential tie-ins with other systems and platforms

Jr. System Administrator

Based at the corporate office of a private company located headquartered in the southern area of the wine country, this position is a great opportunity for a System Administrator to grow and develop as the company’s infrastructure and systems move into the next generation.


GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Jr. System Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure.  This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational requirements. The position involves, but is not limited to, the following tasks and duties:

  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts per request
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.  Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary
  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required
  • Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required
  • Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment
  • Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware.
  • Respond to queries either in person or over the phone.
  • Resolve technical problems with Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), and other systems.
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the IT Director

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Minimum 2 years experience as a Jr. System Administrator or comparable professional IT experience
